Drip molding originated in Germany, mainly produced in Japan in the 1970s, South Korea in the 1980s, Taiwan in the early 1990s, and gradually shifted to mainland China in the mid-1990s. Now some have been transferred to Vietnam, Indonesia and other places.

Drip molding is currently one of the few products that still relies heavily on manual production techniques. The main raw material is to dissolve PVC paste resin in DOP and other fats, add color paste, and form a mixture of paste resin of different colors. Dropping a mixture of different colored paste resins onto aluminum molds, brass molds, electroformed or silicone molds, and heating them to above 170 degrees, the PVC paste resin and DOP lipids undergo a chemical reaction to become solid, resulting in a colorful and three-dimensional product.

The drip molding machine mainly relies on CNC machining technology, replacing the manual dispensing process with automatic machine dispensing, greatly improving production efficiency. It is an original technology independently developed by China.
